I’m convinced that there can be luxury in simplicity.

And these 10-minute cinnamon pastry hearts is yet another confirmation.

They are light, a little crunchy on the outside and so so delicate. They are perfect for kids and sweet tooth husbands 🙂

Mine is head over heels for these cookies. So I already know I have to double the number of puff pastry sheets. But here’s what you can start with.

Puff Pastry Hearts

Ingredients:

2 sheets of ready-to-use puff pastry dough

½ cup brown sugar

Cinnamon to taste

Preparation:

Puff Pastry Hearts Recipe - Step1

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 390F.

Unfold a pastry sheet and put it lengthwise.

Mix brown sugar together with a ground cinnamon.

Sprinkle over with brown sugar and fold both sides approx 1 inch in.

Puff Pastry Hearts Recipe - Step2

Step 2: Fold again till the opposite sides meet in the middle, leaving a very thin hole.

Sprinkle with sugar again and finally fold one side of pastry over the other.

Cut crosswise in 12-14 pieces.

Pay attention not to squash pastry. It should have slight holes between the folds, which when baked allow the pastry to become soft and fluffy.

Puff Pastry Hearts Recipe - Step3

Step 3: Deep each side of the pastry in the brown sugar and cinnamon mix and place cut side down on the baking sheet approx ½ inch apart from each other.

TIP 1: Don't let your pastry dough sit outside the fridge for too long. It will be harder to work with it. So it's best you keep the puff pastry dough in the fridge right up till the moment you start making this recipe.

TIP 2: If you can't get all of the "hearts" stand perfectly on their cut sides on the baking sheet, let them fall into a "V" shape, they'll turn out as good as the other ones. So no need to stress about it 🙂

Repeat the same process with the second sheet of puff pastry.

Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes until light golden color.

Save yourself a piece as they may disappear in a blink of an eye 🙂

And here's a quick How-To Video.
